About the Bookworms

Are you interested in becoming a Bookworm? We'd love for you to join us! The uOttawa Bookworms was founded in 2009 by two friends who wanted to be in a book club, and the group has grown over the years. We welcome new members, but it's always nice to see familiar faces too!

Everything you need to be a part of our book club can be found right here on this blog. You don't have to register with us or pay any fees - just read the book and come to the meeting! You're welcome to come to as many or as few meetings as you like.

We recommend that you enter your email address in the bar on the homepage - this will let you  subscribe to our blog or like us on Facebook! If you subscribe to our blog, you'll get an email update whenever we make a new blog post. This way, you'll be notified of any new polls or meeting changes without having to constantly check back. We don't get a record of your email addresses, so this is for your convenience only! If the widget doesn't work for you, you can always email us at uottawabookworms@gmail.com to be added to the mailing list. The second option is getting updates through our Facebook page. Everything that will be up on the website will be on the Fb page. https://www.facebook.com/UOttawaBookworms

Most people who ask about the club are worried about it being too big a commitment, but don't worry - if you can't make a meeting, or don't have time one month to finish the book, it's okay! We all know how stressful midterms and papers can be. We only encourage you to come to as many meetings as you can because the discussion is most fun when there are lots of people around!

Each month, there will be a poll on this blog where you can vote for a genre, a book and a meeting date and time. Once the votes are in, we will post all the information in the "This Month's Meeting" tab of the blog. We encourage you to join us, even if your vote was not the book or genre that won - variety is the spice of life, as they say...

The meetings involve group discussions, and we'll provide snacks and drinks! If you have any questions that you would like discussed at the meeting, feel free to email your questions to us in advance. If the book has been adapted to film, we can vote to watch the movie at our meeting as well.

If you have any further questions, send us an email at uottawabookworms@gmail.com and we'll be happy to help!
