Philobiblian Tidings

Every once in a while, we hear about some local events that we think might be of interest to fellow readers like you!  We'll share any news we hear on this page.

  • Enjoy reading young adult novels by the likes of Lemony Snicket, Lauren Oliver and Elizabeth Wein? Well, you're in luck! The Ottawa Public Library is hosting their 4th annual Teen Author Fest and attendance is FREE. Events will take place at various branches from October 1st - November 29th. For more information, check out the TAF website: http://biblioottawalibrary.ca/en/TAF

  • I discovered on George RR Martin's website that Bill Willingham wrote Fables as a novel as well to appeal to those who don't want to read graphic novel. Clever and interesting approach to appeal to a larger readership. Also good to know our latest book choice comes approved by one of our previously read authors! Check out his website here http://www.georgerrmartin.com/bill-willinghams-fables/

  • We read The Casual Vacancy recently and in our discussion we contemplated whether it was feasible for a film adaptation. I discovered that it will be adapted as a series on the BBC. Here's the news article about it: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-20581286. What do you think? Will you watch the show? Will it work well as a series as opposed to a film? Let us know!
